Loud Whisper of God
"Stop! - Backup! - Turn up the gravel road! - Go to Pua!" I finally have learned not to question those loud whispers of God.
Two days ago I was returning from a week of ministering with the Mapuche Indian pastors in the countryside around Temuco. I had just left the town of Lautaro, north of Temuco, where I had gone to a plaza to rest for a spell. After buying a bottle of water, a newspaper, and then parking the van in the shade, I proceeded to fall asleep. Man, it was hot out. Everyone was complaining about the heat wave.

My intentions were to survey the town and locate a pastor so as to start our ministry. When I
awoke from my slumber, I just had no energy to do anything else but to get back to the highway and
continue home; ten hours to the north. Lautaro could wait for another time when I was not so
tired.
Fifteen minutes later I saw for the first time the name of a town on a sign at a turn off from the highway that said "Pua". I thought, what an odd name - maybe I should check that town out sometime. Then half a mile later, there was another turnoff that was gravel. I continued driving, but 3 seconds after the second turn off, there came the order to "STOP! BACKUP!" (His whisper wasn't loud enough the first time.)
Suddenly, my slumber and tiredness left me as I knew another adventure was waiting up this dirt road.
A person walking along the road confirmed that there was an evangelical church just on the other side of the tracks. I had no trouble locating a church that turned out to be a Christian Missionary Alliance church with two men painting and one man on the roof making repairs.
I introduced myself to the men on the ground, one who identified himself as a pastor. I started to explain the reason I was there and what my ministry was all about, when he interrupted and said that I should talk to the man on the roof. I explained that I really needed to talk to him as the pastor. "No, you need to talk to the man on the roof." Later I found out that he was a visiting pastor from the other church in town, Baptist. I could not get around his desire for me to speak to someone else. So, I walked to the side of the church and waved at the young man on the roof who was craning his neck around the gutter to see who was visiting.
He came down the ladder, walked up to me and suddenly a huge smile spread across his face as he greeted me as a loving brother. "Lorenzo, it has been almost two years!"
What? I did not recognize him.
Then he said he was Poncho who had ministered with our videos in the town, Ibañez, in the Patagonia. Then I remembered him and THEN I knew why I had to "brake, back up, and take the gravel road!" He and I rejoiced over how God reunited us. The other two men couldn't believe that a Gringo appeared out of nowhere and was now hugging Poncho. He was very happy to receive our ministry of videos once again, and was happy that God speaks in whispers.

On the coast, west of Temuco, I found the Assembly of God pastor, Hector, behind a microphone
preaching to the town of Puerto Saavedra. Once he knew he had his Gringo Missionary friend trapped
in the booth, guess who ended up preaching on the airways of Saavedra. The

problem is not to get me to speak, but to get the mic out of my hand after I get started. They have
a video player and a TV monitor tied into the system so that he can also use the audio of our videos
during his transmissions.
There are about 20 of our Reps now in Chile who are using our materials over the airways, reaching thousands of people behind closed doors. I praise God for the various opportunities and ways we have in this ministry to extend the word to unbelievers and to disciple believers.
