ON THE ROAD AGAIN July 2007
Hola Friends:
I was blessed with a very fast recovery from my stomach operation to the extent that Nikki and I were able this week to minister in five towns with four of our friends from the States. I have asked Susie and Patty to share with you a paragraph and their photos in relating some impressions of being on the road and seeing our ministry:

Amazing...is a word I find myself saying frequently. While Larry definitely has a ministry with the video tapes, Nikki has an amazing ministry to the women, in particular the Pastor's wives who light up in her presence. To watch the interaction between Nikki and the women is something I will never forget. Tears were often seen in the women's eyes during their interaction with her.

After breakfast on a cold winter day, Will Hughes, Amber Pitzler, Susie Lynch, Nikki, Cecilia, and Patty Rody in Lolol
In one of the hosteleria's, as we were huddled around a small container of coals to warm our hands and our breakfast bread; a woman started singing a song and then turned to Nikki to ask her to pray because she had wandered away from the Lord and wanted to feel close to Him again. Nikki, Patty and I prayed with her for strength, recommitment and fellowship. Please remember Cecelia - a single mom with a seventeen year old son serving in the military.

We met BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE everywhere we went! Pictured below are Pastor Rodolfo and his wife Yvonne and 2 of their church workers (all 4 standing), along with Larry and Nikki, Cuchiflina (their Yorkie) and Will (also from the states but in So. America exploring the missionary life). This was the first stop on our 3 day journey and they were celebrating a 15 year goal - having long prayed for a facility that would house a school, as well as their church. And we were their first visitors. The enthusiasm of these people was catching, their love for the Lord evident, and the presence of the Lord sweet, as we ministered to one another that day. We ended our time together by praying over the ground onto which their sanctuary would be extended. It was pretty hard to leave our new brothers and sisters in the Lord!

Lucillia ran the hosteleria Susie mentioned above. She, though obviously poor, truly had the gift of hospitality. Though it was probably the coldest night's sleep of my life, with the power out and the toilet overflowing by morning, it was a very warm time relationally as we shared in these people's lives....Lucillia even allowed me to help her prepare the olive crop for pickling, as we all stood around the brazier chatting and trying to get warm before going to bed.
The man weaving straw in the photo on the right, makes Hauso's (Chilean cowboy) hats. Beautiful workmanship from an artesanaio (craftsman), living in a simple shed by the side of the dirt road, was really a treat to watch. It was impressive for we North Americans, to observe their contentment with little in the way of material goods, while living productive and peaceful lives, doing what they are gifted at.
The church in Vichuquen was our last stop on Larry's route for this trip. There we met Pastor Ronaldo. We had to circle back when he was going to be finished teaching school for the day, before he and Larry could talk and exchange videos. In the meantime we went down a long dirt mountain road to the coast and visited a pastor's wife who just happened to have fresh bread coming out of the oven when we arrived. Her husband, the Pastor, was working several hours away from home and she was alone. She just "felt" she should make bread and a little while later, the six of us came along....hmmm fresh hot bread and tomato jam! She explained that the sea air ruined their video player, so including DVD discs in the future ministry will be arriving just in time, as they are replacing the VCR with a DVD player.
Everywhere we went, the Lord brought encouragement and support to the pastors and their people through VIM. Besides using the teaching in their churches various mentioned the use of the videos in public schools and on the radio! It was really a joy to greet these BEAUTIFUL people in the name of the Lord and see first hand what God is doing through VIM in Chile. GLORIA A DIOS! (Glory to God)
